'SHADOW' is a dream app for the iPhone that aims to cut down on the amount of dreams that are forgotten. The app works as an alarm clock that uses motion sensors to track your sleep patterns. On top of this, upon waking, the app asks you to rate your level of groginess, which helps to get a better sense of your individual sleep cycle.
From there, people are able to record their dreams with their voice or text. These recorded dreams become part of a worldwide dream database, where SHADOW can start to organize themes that it sees with dreams, especially within specific cultures and societies. Since there is so much that we don't know about the human brain and the world of dreams, this is a clever way to collect huge amounts of data.
