Doll Doppelganger Photography (UPDATE)

Ilona Szwarc Captures More Girls with Their Twin Toys

Ilona Szwarc is back with some more adorable doppelganger photography. For several years Szwarc has travelled across the United States photographing young girls with their identical American Girl dolls. Her photos have garnered a ton of attention through their inclusion in The New Yorker and their uncanny ability to match each girl to her doll perfectly.

Szwarc's newest photo series shows girls with very specific interests posing with their equally niche dolls. One girl is shown on horseback while in full riding gear. Her doll, which looks exactly like her, is also dressed like her and rests on top of its miniature horse. Another shot shows a girl in her school uniform with her doll balancing on her shoulders wearing the exact same outfit -- even her hairstyle is identical.

These doppelganger photographs demonstrate perfectly how young girls care deeply about their dolls, which in turn teach them compassion and let their imaginations run wild.
