Conceptual Floating Chapels

Denizen Works Will Build a Boat That Doubles as a Church

The London-based architecture firm Denizen Works has decided to build a floating chapel, which will be the first of its kind.

The Floating Church was conceptualized to be mobile for two reasons -- the first being the highly distinctive nature of the design, and the second being that it will allow the church to "journey through London's canal network to reach Christian worshipers." The boat was inspired by old VW camper van designs, and will have an extendable aluminum roof that ensures its design is adaptable to the size of the congregation in attendance.

The Denizen Works firm also designed the Floating Church to double as a community hub – and it will feature events like book clubs and art classes.
