The Deloitte Summit skyscraper has been completed in Vancouver, Canada as an eye-catching addition to the coastal city landscape for citizens to admire.
Designed by the Tokyo-based Studio OSO, the skyscraper looks like a series of stacked boxes from afar, which combine to create the appearance of Japanese lanterns. The skyscraper features a 24-story design and appears as a sculptural building within the landscape, despite its glass and metal construction. The building will also put on a nightly performance with the lights dimming and the blinds lowered at 9pm before slowly starting to light up for a lantern-like effect.
Studio OSO commented on the Deloitte Summit skyscraper saying, "The tenant does not expect to find glass floors overlooking the city, roof terraces under overhanging volumes, and vertical gardens framing views of the mountains. All this is accomplished by rearranging – rather than abandoning – the conventional glass box."
