Classic Burrito Returns Initiatives

Del Taco Relaunched Project Sunrise and Classic Burritos

Del Taco introduced Project Sunrise, an 18-month roadmap from the brand's new owners designed to restore core menu standards and reignite growth, featuring the return of its Classic Burrito line and the Jack'd Up menu. The relaunch included bringing back original preparation methods, product names and the Del Taco open-end burrito fold, with each burrito weighing over half a pound. The rollout began March 3 and included a limited Del Yeah! Rewards offer for Classic Burrito combos.

Project Sunrise also reintroduced Spicy Jack cheese items such as Spicy Jack Quesadilla and Jack'd Up Bean, Rice & Cheese Burrito to revive fan-favorite flavors. The plan pairs menu fixes with smarter check-building, catering expansion, loyalty enhancements and targeted unit growth to seven new locations in 2026. For consumers this refocus restores familiar flavors and consistency while aligning with a broader trend of heritage menu revivals that aim to rebuild trust and drive trial among lapsed guests.
