Utilizing old-fashion rugs, British sculptor Debbie Lawson works in both two and three dimensions, creating wild animals with striking detail and structure. Supported by chicken wire, and masking tape, the Persian carpet, the animals are meant to create the illusion that the creature is combined with the hanging rug. One of her most popular works showcases a 2.5-meter tall red bear pushing out of a gorgeous red patterned rug.
Debbie Lawson, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, recently had these pieces displayed at the academy's summer exhibition. Another one of Lawson's pieces, a Persian Moose, is permanently on display at London's Town Hall hotel. The rest of Lawson's work can be viewed on her website or on Instagram.
