You've probably heard of the cronut by now (a croissant and donut hybrid), but this croissant muffin mashup from San Francisco-based Mr. Homes Bakehouse is giving the pastry a run for its money. While the Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City is reveling in their baked good success, the west coast produced their own Instagram-famous dessert.
The croissant muffin is rolled in sugar, filled with coffee crème and topped with a homemade marshmallow. The light snack combines the croissant's flakes with biscuit-like layers that are easy to peel.
Described as the bakery's signature item, the cruffin is just one sweet hybrid featuring the croissant. In addition to donuts, people have also been mixing the flaky bread-based vehicle with waffles, pretzels, bagels and everything else in between.
