Over the past few years, there have been plenty of virtual and augmented reality platforms and apps introduced to simplify the process of trying on multiple cosmetic products, looks and shades—the Coty Magic Mirror adds a new dimension to this experience by integrating interactions with physical products.
For its newly relaunched Bourjois boutique in Paris, Coty developed the blended reality beauty mirror for highly engaging product discovery experiences. While many VR and AR mirrors have consumers interact with the technology by pressing on a touchscreen, the Coty Magic Mirror recreates a realistic try-on experience by having consumers first pick up a tangible product. Instantly, as if by magic, the corresponding lipstick shade appears on a consumer's lips.
As part of a consumer survey, Coty found that 72% of consumers desired in-store beauty experiences that mix both physical and digital elements for greater realism and believability.
