NYC fine dining hotspot, Contra recently upgraded its services to offer a Contra vegetarian tasting menu to appease customers and maintain its no substitutions policy. Contra is currently owned by chefs Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Huske. The idea to launch this menu came as diners repeatedly asked for meat-free options and were met with an unfortunate response. According to Stone, the restaurant would get continuous questions about vegetarian options and the owners were constantly asking themselves "What should we do?' We say no substitutions, but they’re here."
Like many other fine dining restaurants, the Contra vegetarian tasting menu is a fairly new venture that is set to finally recognize the growing demand for plant-based meals. The new tasting menu plays off of Contra's already vegetable-forward menu and features meat-free takes on previous dishes. The multi-course tasting menu currently features a playful dishes that do not attempt to replicate meat, but instead focus on the beauty and amazing flavor of vegetables and fruits.
