Looks need not be sacrificed for practicality and the same goes for the opposite. This Concrete Furniture set demonstrates how some of the optimal features of outdoor movables can be achieved and celebrated through material and form.
Simon Busse has designed a chair, a narrow planter and a multifunctional footstool that can also act as a side table in two different orientations. Each of these pieces has been cast from the cement and gravel mixture and set into surprisingly dainty shapes considering the weight of the hardened substance. The seat has relatively slender legs and a thin backrest. And despite the lengthy span across the top of the ottoman, its heaviness is well supported. This Concrete Furniture series also boasts an imperviousness to the elements.
