With National Comic Book Day upon us, comic book artists can now transform their 2D drawings and characters into real-life 3D statues thanks to 'Carmine Street Comics' in New York City. The store is known to have an array of functions -- acting as a retail shop, hosting comedy nights and setting up various artists to draw in its front window. Providing artists with a place to gain exposure, fans and advice, the store now also works with them to turn their sketchbook characters into 3D-printed toys.
These statues can be sold as collectible products to the artists' fans or the store's customers. So far characters like 'Walter Tank' by George Vega and 'Cadet Jack' by Shannon Gordon have been produced. Beloved by all, this store gives comic book artists more exposure as well as some much needed money, a result of all 3D-printed figurines that are sold.
