The Colorado chalets developed by the city's university are known as the Outward Bound Micro Cabins and they offer space for students and teachers alike to come together and live in a prefab container unit in the middle of nature. The homes are modern and stylish, relying on only the necessities to provide a comfortable place to stay in the wilderness.
The cabins are far from traditional abodes by any sense of the word, with a design that is similar to a shipping container. The units are elevated above ground and provide a simplistic one-level design constructed using plywood, steel and a slanted roof to eliminate the accumulation of snow or rain. The home offers large windows to immerse guests in the dense forested area.
