Bosch Engineering has developed a high-tech new collision detection system that, in addition to being able to quickly and reliably warn the driver of a motor vehicle of a possible or impending crash, is also capable of applying the brakes itself and automatically de-activating the throttle system so as to avoid a collision.
What's great about this collision detection system is the fact that is capable of figuring out the distance between the driver's vehicle and another vehicle on the road, at which point it then goes about calculating the likelihood of a collision whilst taking into account other variables such as speed. It can detect objects within a range of 70 degrees around the front.
