Modernized Stickback Seating

The Colibri Chair by Markus Johansson is Inspired by Nordic Design

The Colibri Chair may be inspired by the traditional Nordic stickback seating, but that fact wouldn't be gleaned at first glance. The overall modern design with its sleek lines and cushioned seat appears quite different from its inspiration. Yet instead of paying tribute to the specific aesthetic of the stickback seat, the Colibri Chair instead endeavors to embody its easy-going and classical appeal.

Designed by Gothenburg-based Markus Johansson for Swedish manufacturer HansK, the Colibri Chair is available in a variety of versions. As divulged by the designer, "Choose from four different bases, four different seats in textile or bonded leather, four different backs, or opt for four different ones with armrests." It is also available in white lacquered birch or dyed black elm as well as oiled natural or blonde oak.
