Tim Kwok's cocoon chair received an award via the A'Design Award & Competition. The silhouette answers to contemporary cues and can be a wonderful addition to a home nook. Alternatively, the piece can be utilized as lounge patio furniture. There are many uses of Kwok's cocoon chair which has been inspired by the delicate building techniques of silkworms.
The designer studied the best possible net configuration that will substantially support and produce a comfortable surface for the human body. The cocoon chair is made with stainless steel and leather string, where the latter is "chosen because of its strength, flexibility and [its proximity] to human temperature." The rocking-style chair silhouette of Tim Kwok's award-winning design is also a further expression of the inspiration as the "motion is an experience of the floating nature of the cocoon."
