Cocchi, an Italian spirit brand specializing in apéritif, has unveiled the Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry. According to the company, the new offering aims to celebrate the birthplace of Italian vermouth, Piedmont, by using a recipe that was first developed in that region.
The base of the new extra-dry vermouth is made from local Cortese grapes, which conjure flavors of melon, white flowers, and fresh apples. The liquid is blended with a range of botanicals, including angelica, wormwood, cardamom, coriander, lemon peel, and Piedmontese mint.
Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry is intended to be added to classic cocktails such as a Martini. “It’s been a long process, and it took a lot of work to create a vermouth that would have personality without overpowering the delicacy of a gin and vodka," explained Cocchi's managing director, Roberto Bava.
