The Clubhouse app is a audio-based digital platform that is exclusive, as it functions on an invite-only basis. Users are invited to enter themed chatrooms that range from a wide plethora of topics. Some recognizable names that use the app include Tiffany Haddish and Oprah.

How the platform works starts with choosing a room to enter then they are brought to a conversation that is happening "on stage" as members are able to listen as the "audience." It performs similarly to a large conference call, where users can take turns speaking about the topic going on. Founders Paul Davison and Rohan Seth started the app recognized Twitter's text-based conversation and TikTok and Instagram's visual space. Spoken content only came in the form of podcasts, which can be overwhelming for a casual user, so they launched a more nimble version of audio formats.
