City Firefly Brings Security to the Stationery Bicycle and the Moving Rider

When it comes to cyclist security, two main issues come to mind: road-safety and anti-theft. The clever idea behind the City Firefly manages to confront both of these with a cutting-edge hybrid design.

With BWA\HAKUHODO, Uchima Rosa and Takeshima Kazuyoshi came up with a glowing bike lock that can be worn by the rider in transit. Taking the shape of a generous loop, the link can be comfortably slung over a shoulder, wrapped around a waist, or simply bound around the frame of a bicycle. Thanks to a band of glowing blue material, other vehicles on the road will be more likely to notice you and give you ample space to ride as they pass by.

The City Firefly bicycle chain lock system was recognized as one of the Best of the Best at this year's Red Dot Design Awards.
