After successfully rolling out all-day breakfast, McDonald's has begun beefing up its morning offerings with the addition of the Chicken McGriddle. In recent years, chicken and waffles has become a popular breakfast dish among those who enjoy the delicious combination of savory and sweet. Since McDonald's does not sell waffles, the chain is offering its own take on the tasty combination.
The Chicken McGriddle is a new breakfast sandwich that combines a fried chicken patty with two sweet pancake buns. The dish was created by Ohio franchisee Brian Mortellaro, who wanted to create his own version of chicken and waffles. Fortunately the new dish proved easy to create since the chicken patty is the same as that used for the McChicken.
While the Chicken McGriddle is still being tested, the move demonstrates a growing demand for breakfast products that can be enjoyed throughout the day.
