The folks over at BuzzFeed have created a hilarious video titled 'What Men Are Really Saying When Catcalling Women.'
On the outside, these trying-to-be-tough guys might be yelling something like, "hey baby, nice legs. Why you walkin' so fast?" However, you'd best believe that, on the inside, these man-children are actually screaming something along the lines of, "I desperately don't know how to talk to women and I'm drowning in a pool of loneliness and despair." The video essentially vocalizes the inner motivations behind this type of harassment.
Ultimately, street harassment is a way for men to perform, and thus affirm, their masculinity. In fact, the whole process says a whole lot more about men than it does women. However, the bottom line is that it's never permissible.
