Research-Backed Cat Happiness Scales

WHISKAS® Releases Its Findings from Its Whimsical Campaign

The WHISKAS® brand has released its Cat Happiness Scale, a research-based ranking of Canadian cities where cats exhibit the highest frequency of positive behaviors associated with contentment — from purring and slow blinking to playful interactions.

Developed in collaboration with the Waltham Petcare Science Institute, the study analyzed thousands of social media posts featuring cats to determine which urban areas foster the happiest feline companions. Hamilton, Ontario, emerged as Canada's top city for cat happiness, followed by Laval, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Quebec City.

Beyond the lighthearted Cat Happiness Scale, WHISKAS®'s initiative also addresses a more pressing issue as the campaign extends to support shelter cats in need. The beloved pet brand is fulfilling wish lists for select animal shelters across the country, providing essential items like food, toys, and supplies to improve the well-being of cats awaiting adoption.
