This Castrol augmented reality ad was created to promote "The Fate of the Furious," the upcoming eighth installment in the blockbuster Fast and the Furious franchise. Although Michelle Rodriguez appears in this spot she is not the star of it. That would be stunt driver Debbie Evans who has worked on three films in the series. Evans co-star is a Jaguar F-Type R. Her task in the Castrol augmented reality commercial is simple: maneuver the Jag around a frozen lake while avoiding a series of virtual obstacles.

Evans has a set of VR goggles on to bring the imaginary threats to life. The Castrol augmented reality commercial seamlessly blends the two worlds together, jumping from the virtual to physical to show the impressive driving taking place in both. Augmented reality still hasn't fully made its way to Hollywood yet, but spots like this how the tech can be leveraged to promote films, especially ones as action-packed as "The Fate of the Furious."
