The 'Contraband Playing Cards' are a historical card deck set that turns to secret societies and products banned throughout the years in the U.S. The cards opt for a darker color scheme to emphasize the reference to historical scheming through the 1800s to the 1960s.
The luxe design on the cards incorporates the logos of the contraband products as the secret societies in a detailed and artistic hand-drawn patterns. These include emblems of the tax stamp, that were often missing or forged on counterfeit products. The cards feature an unconventional black foil complete with gold detailing and embossing on the deck as well as the packaging.
The designs are made to be used to practice magic, but also double up as standard playing cards for games.
