The Candela C-8 electric hydrofoil watercraft is coming to CES 2023 in Las Vegas and it offers a vision for the future of sustainable travel on water. Thanks to its unique design, this watercraft flies silently above the waves for high speed travel and maximum efficiency. The 28-foot watercraft boasts a 100% carbon fiber hull and the capacity to reach top speeds of 30 knots and cruising speeds of 20 knots for more than two hours.
"With the C-8, we set out to make the first no-compromise electric boat with maximum range and speed, but we’ve ended up with a new and improved class of craft, which also happens to be electric," said Gustav Hasselskog, Candela’s founder and CEO.
Thanks to an electric hydrofoil system, the craft can fly above the waves, reducing water friction by 80%. Otherwise, the Candela C-8 can also be operated as a traditional planing hull with less efficiency.
