Range-Roving Hydrofoil Boats

The 'P-8 Voyageur' is Equipped to Counter Hydrodynamic Friction

Swedish company Candela made waves with the first test of its C-8 electric hydrofoil boat only a matter of months ago, but the company is already boldly sailing into the future in quick time with the advent of an upgraded offering in the form of the 'P-8 Voyageur.'

Unveiled at the Salone Nautico show over in the Italian city of Venice, the 'P-8 Voyageur' is an electric hydrofoil boat that is capable of maintaining a cruising speed of 20 knots or 37 km/h on its way to a top speed of 30 knots, or around 56 km/h. When the vessel attains a speed of 16 knots, its foils gently elevate the boat's hull above the water, which serves to curb friction along the water. This efficiency-inducing engineering feature ensures that a single charge of the boat's lithium battery system allows it to promise a range of around 93 km when operated at cruising speed.

The 'P-8 Voyageur' electric hydrofoil boat is available via preorder for prices starting at over $485,000.
