Doing a beautiful job capturing women that may fall outside society's definition of traditional femininity, photographer SD Holman's butch women photo series sheds a light on women that are considered masculine and shows off their beauty.

Using her talent as a portrait photographer to send a message, Holman creates a butch women photo series 'BUTCH: Not Like the Other Girls' that uses masculine women as subjects and gets them to define who they are through the images. The photographer tries to show that the Butch identity is also a classification that objectifies women in a negative light.

“Butches and all gender variant folk walk in a world that is really hostile to them, so we tend to look inward. I was inspired to show their beauty by my wife Catherine, a femme who loved butches," says Holman.
