This budget electric car has three wheels and has the appearance of a sports car. From LA-based startup Ampere Motor USA, the Polaris Slingshot costs less than $10K and has a 100 mile range.
Perfect for city commuting and fun on the weekends, the vehicle has a number of impressive features including an extremely strong and rigid, yet lightweight, race car-derived tubular chassis, double wishbone suspension and a smart regenerative braking system. The budget electric car also has a carbon kevlar belt drivetrain and the same sort of suspension that 100K sports cars have. It is also described as being "maintenance-free, almost indestructible." The production of the electric sports car is expected to begin this year, with 80% of mass production ready.
