A farmer out in China by the name of Hao Xianzhang has been creating some brilliant Buddha-shaped pears that are set to become available in the United Kingdom soon.
Hao has been spending the past six years developing his technique of creating pears that grow into the shape of one of the worlds most talked about spiritual teachers. These Buddha-shaped pears are grown in custom individual moulds that are placed onto the growing pear. Hao has already created 10,000 of these miniature edible Buddha's and he plans to start exporting them to the UK soon.
Locals in Hao's home village of Hexia, northern China have been paying the £5 price and Hao says, "people seem to think they are cute or lucky and will buy them as soon as they're off the tree."
