The BritBox streaming service has been announced as a new joint collaboration between the BBC and ITV as a way for consumers in the UK to enjoy their choice of content at their leisure.
The streaming service is focused on British programming and aims to celebrate the past, present and future of content in the UK by also hosting original content that will launch exclusively on the platform. The new streaming platform is positioned to have a competitive edge with hyper-personalized content for consumers to enjoy, which makes it a solid alternative or companion to other streaming services like Netflix.
BBC Director-General, Tony Hall, spoke on the new BritBox streaming service when he explained that, "I am delighted that the BBC and ITV are working together on something truly special – BritBox. A new streaming service delivering the best home-grown content to the public who love it best. The service will have everything from old favourites to recent shows and brand new commissions. It’s an exciting time for the viewing public."
