Bored Boy Illustrations

This Brian Cook Series is Imaginative and Escapist

Illustrator Brian cook recently came up with a series of imaginative scenes titled 'Illustrations for Children.' As its name suggests, the series is a whimsical adventure through the imagination of a young boy. Such whimsy is tempered by occasionally melancholic expressions worn by the young boy and the creatures of his imagination.

In terms of style, Cook applies rather dour colors to the backgrounds and scenery, reserving more vibrant colors for the young boy and his companions. This color-scheme suggests that the boy considers much of his everyday life to be droll while his imagination provides an escape from such boredom.

The illustrations have a narrative quality to them as they focus on a protagonist and portray various aspects of his life. In this sense they could go very well with a children's book.
