This Bowl of Rice Packaging is Inspired by Chinese Tradition

Designed by Shanghai Version Design, this bowl of rice packaging focuses on the traditional Chinese rice containers that would be found in the countryside of the Asian country.

The hexagonal design of the packaging features two sections that hold a package of rice and a bowl, respectively. The conceptual packaging was designed for a brand that focuses on farm products in order to give a more ornate aesthetic to otherwise simple items.

The bowl of rice packaging opens like a clamshell and is held closed by twine that doubles as a carrier for the small paper package.

Although conceptual, the packaging correlates to a shift in consumer packaged goods that praises convenience; this merging of food with crockery identifies how we could see products be designed to focus on convenience.
