Self-Stabilizing Cups

The Beach 'Screw Cup' Secures Itself in the Sand

The 'Screw Cup' is one of those ideas that you wish you could invent yourself. Simply a cup with a screw-shaped bottom, the Screw Cup is designed to do one thing and one thing only: secure the cup and keep it stable on the crumbly beach sand.

Designed by Barcelona-based Minji Jung, the cup, while able to be propped up straight -- albeit somewhat precariously when not screwed down into a soft surface -- is made of ceramic to help cool hot liquids down. The most obvious attraction, though, is the cup's ability to withstand the sandy and windy conditions at the beach. As long as the Screw Cup isn't mistaken for a sea shell by any curious children or any beach creatures, the cup completes the ideal beach experience.
