This auto-cooling fabric has been developed by a team of researchers at the University of Maryland as a solution to the common problem of feeling too hot or too cold in a garment. The fabric is crafted from a mixture of two fibers that are synthetic and work together to allow heat to be dissipated or held, according to how the person wearing it feels at that moment. This could work wonders for future garment designers to help them enhance the clothing of athletes to be more reactive to their needs.
The auto-cooling fabric was explained by YuHuang Wang who said, "It's a very simplified way to think of it, but imagine bringing two antennae close together to regulate the kind of electromagnetic wave they pick up. When the fibers are brought closer together, the radiation they interact with changes. In clothing, that means the fabric interacts with the heat radiating from the human body."
