The Argentine-born artist Augustina Woodgate found a way to incorporate her favorite stuffed animals from childhood into her adult lifestyle. Her project entitled 'Skin Rugs' is not only adorable, but it's also a fantastic idea in the world of carpet design.
Using the furry covers of more than 50 plush toys, Augustina Woodgate creates a series that is colorful and playful. Woodgate spent two years to complete the collection, but the results are mesmerizing, considering she had never sewn before in her life. The different "skins" of the toys create a wide range of patterns and shapes, adding a kaleidoscopic effect to each mat.
From square to ovals, these giant rugs make good use children's toys, and they're also an eco-friendly alternative to real fur carpets.
