The ASDA Just Essentials beef mince product range packaging is being updated by the retailer to give it a flexible profile that's also inherently reduced in terms of plastic use.
The packaging is arriving now at brick and mortar locations and online, and features 60% less plastic than previous versions and can also be recycled via the brand's in-store collection points. This will help to remove 67.6-tonnes of plastic form the supply chain on an annual basis. The packaging uses a vacuum-sealed method to remote oxygen and subsequently increase shelf life, while also taking up less space in the fridge.
Sustainable Packaging Manager Jon Wells commented on the new ASDA Just Essentials beef mince product range packaging saying, "We’re always looking at new ways that we can make positive changes which will benefit both our customers and the planet, and we believe that this is one of those changes. Not only does this improve shelf life and provide greater convenience for our customers, it also removes tonnes of non-recyclable plastic from our supply chain, reducing our carbon footprint.”
