Converted Brothel Galleries

The Great Eastern Bear Has Much History

The Great Eastern Bear Gallery in Shoreditch, London is an art gallery in an east end brothel.

Converted lovingly from its former seedy existence by photographer and gallery owner Rich Hendry, the space is currently light and airy with much history.

The space is currently home to an exhibition of works by Jo Syz titled 'Peripheries,' which includes stark images of industrialized landscapes. By contrast, the exterior of the building is covered with vibrant neon graffiti by Muro Cracia. The space will continue to showcase and promote the works of up-and-coming artists.

Not your average space to hang pictures and drink champagne, The Great Eastern Bear is a contemporary take on revamped spaces and gallery locations.
