Karaoke bar owners saw a peak in interest in 1996. In an attempt to spark a revival, karaoke bars like Tokyo's Aria Blu are offering private and themed rooms, each with a different atmosphere. They're targeting the 20-30 demographic as well as business people looking for an entertaining night out.
Unlike the U.S. where Karaoke is an afterthought, Aria Blu offers theme rooms such as "Hollywood", "botanical" and "lagoon" and offer, in addition to alcohol, gourmet meals provided by outstanding chefs.
