The Kickstarter-funded ArduSat satellite project is an unprecedented development of crowd-sourced funding for the study of science.
As a satellite that allows professors, researchers and students to use its capabilities of collecting data in space, it is possible that previously exclusive knowledge will be out of the hands of government space programs. The study of space, extraterrestrial earth forms and the fundamental workings of our planets could be accelerated forward due to the influx of minds concentrated on such topics. The satellite also hopes to inspire all those who use its function to have a renewed drive to protect the Earth, as all of the 450 people who have travelled into space come back bent on sustaining its beauty.
Though it is just a 10x10x10 centimetres-large contraption, the possibilities it could spur are huge.
