(Archi)TECT’S GAMBIT Chessboard is Designed by Carpenter

This innovative chessboard, dubbed the (Archi)TECT’S GAMBIT, is informed by Bangkok's cityscape and the hit Netflix series Queen's Gambit. Carpenter Design created a conceptual take on the high-rises and suspension bridges, making for a unique chess-playing experience.

The carpentry company is devoted to repurposing wood waste, which inspired the construction of the (Archi)TECT’S GAMBIT set. Vrada Siripong led the project with fellow Carpenter co-designer Sirincha Sathume after watching the Queen's Gambit series. Siripong notes that "it was fun and purely out of my personal fascination. As soon as I finished the series, my brain immediately started working on ideas for the project." Players can recognize the city structures that inspired the chessboard pieces like the King and Queen's high-rise frame.
