Motorola has added a touchscreen to its 'APX Next,' which will improve the functionality of the walkie talkie. The new touch screen will allow the user to have easier access to different functions of the APX Next walkie talkie. The touch screen was difficult to design for the, as it had to be able to work when the user is wearing gloves and in wet conditions. The APX Next is currently available for pre-order, however, no price has been released.
Motorola also included voice controls in the design of the walkie talkie. However, users have to hold down a button to make a voice command and to hear the results. Motorola envisions this feature helping first responders search for information.
