Food blog Skinny Taste shares this easy to follow recipe to make apple butter at home for a fraction of the cost so consumers can stick to a healthier diet without breaking the bank.
Apple butter is a great spread to add to toast, pastries and even sliced fruits as a breakfast or afternoon snack. To make the butter at home, the recipe calls for six large apples of your choice allowing you to customize the flavoring to incorporate your favorite produce type. The apples are boiled down with sugar, cinnamon and spices that are then blended to create a spread-like consistency. The finished product contains only 9g of sugar and a low sodium content of 1mg.
