Challenge-Based Dating Apps

Challengr Strives to Offer a New App Dating Experience to Consumers

The contemporary app dating experience has remained relatively the same over the years, but now some platforms are looking to enhance the swipe-based model into something new and unexpected. Challengr is one such offering.

Developed by MIT Aerospace engineer Garrett Fritz, Challengr seeks to "delve deeper than the surface scratchers like Tinder, Bumble, etc." Instead, the app dating experience is enhanced with the opportunity to "issue a challenge to your prospective match in order to see if they have what it takes to catch your attention." This can be pretty much anything—from quizzing someone about your favorite sci-fi franchise to asking them to do 20 push-ups. Users cannot talk to one another unless they have completed a challenge first.
