Emergency-Alerting Home Systems

Amazon Alexa Now Offers Emergency Assist to Connect Users to 911

Amazon Alexa is receiving a new update that will bring Emergency Assist, a new feature for alerting emergency services, to consumers who own an Echo device. By activating this feature, Alexa will connect the user to an agent who can alert emergency services based on what the circumstances are. By saying "Alexa, call for help," users will be able to access essential information about their home address to communicate to emergency personnel. The feature will also inform responders which device the call was made from, so first responders know which rooms to check first.

Alexa also notifies the user's set contact list once the Emergency Assist feature is activated, and can detect smoke or CO alarms to activate those too. Emergency Assist will replace Amazon's previous emergency system, Guard Plus.
