Entitled 'Innocents Abroad', the Akiko Nei Spring/Summer 2013 collection is conceptually bold. Sporting a number of stuffed animal mask accessories, models pose in studio while dressed in the young designer's edgy and youthful pieces.
The collection combines oversized flannel shirt and wool poodle skirts with khaki shorts and plaid-printed jackets among a slew of other comfortable grunge garments. Inspired by author Mark Twain, the Central Saint Martins graduate recorded her ideas, attitudes and clothing direction all throughout her creative process.
Based in Japan, the designer showcases her distinct point of view in a pastel-clad image series that defies tradition while pushing style boundaries. The Akiko Nei Spring/Summer 2013 collection presents fashion lovers with an unconventional concept of femininity that is more empowering that classically delicate.
