Air Taxi Partnerships

Rolls-Royce and Hyundai Team Up to Develop New Air Mobility Fuel System

In a future-forward collaboration, Rolls-Royce has teamed up with Hyundai to develop a new fuel solution for advanced air mobility vehicles.

More specifically, the two automotive giants plan to create a fuel-cell electric propulsion system for air taxis. The collaboration will see Rolls-Royce leverage its aviation experience while Hyundai provides its signature hydrogen fuel cell technology.

No doubt, the collaboration is representative of both brands' eagerness to enter the emerging aerospace market. For example, Hyundai has already set aside $1.4 billion for developing flying air taxis in South Korea, which its plans to accomplish by 2025.

"The Advanced Air Mobility Market offers great commercial potential, and this collaboration supports our joint ambitions to lead the way in the Advanced Air Mobility Market,” said Rob Watson, president of Rolls-Royce Electrical, in a recent statement.
