The UK’s Enfield council in London is now making use of an AI program from IPsoft in order to answer questions that come in from local residents on its website.
This AI program called 'Amelia' has the capacity to understand context, apply logic, learn and use smart problem solving when answering questions. With advanced speech recognition technology, Amelia also has the ability to sense the emotions of who she is speaking with. In comparison to employing a human to carry out the same tasks, Amelia is reported to be 60% more cost-effective. By handling some of the more routine inquiries, this leaves human workers more time to devote themselves to issues that can't be handled by an AI.
Outside of this application, IPsoft's Amelia program is also being used as a customer service tool that can offer support using natural language.
