Age-Related Vision Treatments

Viatris' RYZUMVI Eye Drops Receive FDA Approval for Presbyopia

Viatris is expanding age-related vision treatments with the FDA approval of RYZUMVI eye drops for adults experiencing presbyopia. Previously authorized to reverse medication-induced pupil dilation, the prescription solution now addresses a second eye condition. This expanded application offers another treatment option for individuals experiencing difficulty focusing on nearby objects as they age.

RYZUMVI contains phentolamine ophthalmic solution 0.75% and targets presbyopia, a condition commonly emerging during a person's early to mid-40s. The medication's existing approval also covers reversing drug-induced pupil dilation in adults and children aged three and older. Its additional indication broadens the product's clinical applications.

The approval creates opportunities for Viatris to reach a wider patient population within the ophthalmic pharmaceutical market. The company is considering a U.S. commercialization partner, potentially supporting distribution and expanding its presence in age-related vision care.
