In India, there are many acid attack survivors due to the rate of violence of this nature that is often directed toward women. Sheroes' Hangout is a cafe run by such women, as a way to integrate themselves back into society, earn enough money to be independent and raise money for the 'Stop Acid Attacks' campaign that supports victims.
The cafe is run on a pay as you wish system, which actually works out well as most people who go there would rather spend food money at a place where proceeds go to a good cause rather than another fast food chain. The women serve coffee and treats as well as tell their stories to customers, many of whom are from around the world.
