Solera-Aged Ultra-Premium Tequilas

Don Julio Launches Its Solera-Aged Añejo Tequila in the UK

Diageo introduced Don Julio Última Reserva to the UK, releasing just 318 bottles of the solera-aged extra añejo Tequila through selected retailers and hospitality venues. The expression was distilled from the final agave harvest overseen by the late Don Julio González and his family in 2006 and is positioned as a tribute to the founder’s legacy.

The Tequila is first rested in American oak Bourbon barrels before being finished in casks seasoned with wine and Madeira. It then undergoes solera ageing, blending and maturing Tequilas with different characteristics. Tasting notes include toasted oak, apricot, orange and honeyed agave. The 700ml bottle is priced at £400 and bottled at 40% ABV, with select Plaster Store purchases including a silk scarf by Mexican artist Javier Barrios.

For collectors and premium spirits consumers, the release combines provenance, elaborate ageing and cultural collaboration. The limited allocation reinforces growing demand for story-driven, ultra-premium Tequila.
