Generation Y Disney Makeovers

These Iconic Disney Films Were Made Over for Millennials

There are few things as universally loved as Disney’s animated films. Since the 1937 release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, these movies have captured the imaginations of audiences all over the world. With their uplifting stories, lovable characters and memorable music, they continue to provide moviegoers with a much-needed respite from the throes of everyday life.

It is all the more entertaining (and sometimes unsettling), therefore, when the Internet enables people to bridge the gap between the childlike innocence of Disney, and the confusing messiness of young adulthood. Jen Lewis of website BuzzFeed provides the latest entry in the pantheon of such reinterpretations with a collection of Disney posters that casts the films’ protagonists as members of Generation Y. From a re-imagining of Alice as a frivolous lush, to Pocahontas as a penniless vagrant (apparently with a penchant for throwing caution to the “colors of the wind”), these posters hint at endings that may not be quite as happy as the Mouse House originally intended.
